Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 3 years of hands-on experience specifically administering GCP BigQuery.
• 5 years of total experience in Database Administration or Data Engineering.

Required Skills:

• Strong mastery of Google BigQuery architecture and storage mechanics.
• Advanced SQL optimization and query tuning skills.
• Proficiency in GCP CLI (gcloud) and BigQuery command-line tool (bq).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform.
• Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts (Star/Snowflake schema).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Google Cloud Certified Professional Data Engineer.
• Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Architecture & Administration: Manage BigQuery datasets, tables, views, and authorized views. Implement and maintain data retention and partitioning policies.
• Performance & Cost Optimization: Optimize query performance using clustering and partitioning. Monitor and minimize GCP slot utilization and query costs.
• Security & Governance: Enforce Identity and Access Management (IAM) roles and permissions. Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations.
• Data Integration & Operations: Collaborate with Data Engineers to optimize ingestion pipelines. Manage data replication, backup, and disaster recovery strategies.
• L1 and L2 Support: Candidate should be able to work in rolling shifts to provide support. L1 involves receiving requests and logging tickets, while L2 involves in-depth problem analysis and system configurations.
