The Books team is looking for an innovative, results-oriented, customer-centric self-starter and team player to help grow our digital books business. This Content Acquisition Manager will own strategic relationships with Australian and international publishers, and help define and execute the content strategy for Kindle Unlimited and Kindle ALC - including subscription models, lending programs, and digital selection growth - across the Australian marketplace. The ideal candidate has solid business judgment and an analytical mindset, with a track record of successful content or commercial negotiations, strong relationship management, and a demonstrated ability to launch and scale new business models, initiatives, and products. This person uses data and complex analytics to guide decision-making, dives deep into the Australian digital books landscape, and thinks creatively about new opportunities to grow readership and delight customers.

Key job responsibilities

Own end-to-end identification, evaluation, negotiation, and management of content partnership deals with Australian publishers, independently driving deals that grow Kindle ALC and Kindle Unlimited selection and delight Australian customers

Act as a subject matter expert for Australian digital books, contributing meaningfully to the Content Acquisition team"s strategy around content acquisition, subscription and lending models, promotional programs, and Kindle readership growth in Australia

Independently develop clear business and product requirements for Kindle ALC and Kindle Unlimited initiatives, proactively prioritize competing needs, and manage milestones while effectively aligning key stakeholders

Define, track, and continuously improve selection, operational, and business metrics - including subscriber growth, title availability, and qualified borrows - holding yourself and partners accountable to results

Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders (e.g. product management, legal, marketing, and global Content Acquisition teams) to adapt and land global programs effectively in Australia

Prepare and deliver crisp, data-backed business reviews to senior Amazon leadership and publishing partners, clearly communicating performance, risks, and opportunities for Kindle ALC and Kindle Unlimited

Proactively identify and drive opportunities for process innovation and automation in content licensing, ingestion workflows, and subscriber engagement

Apply rigorous data analysis to navigate ambiguous problems, synthesizing insights into actionable recommendations and influencing cross-functional teams without needing direct authority

Contribute to and execute against the Australian Digital Books P&L, demonstrating a strong understanding of local market trends - including competitive dynamics, seasonality, and reader behavior - and their impact on business performance
