Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the general direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the VP, Business Development is responsible for planning, organizing and directing all business development initiatives for HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake. It is expected that the VP will effectively operate the department, continue the improvement of the department’s processes and outcomes, comply with Hospital and corporate policy and procedures, efficiently manage finances and resources, and integrate the department services into the hospital’s overall plan for the delivery and of care and service.

What you will do in the role:

  • Manage the administration of the business development, community relations, and marketing/PR functions to enhance and promote future growth and development of the hospital.
  • Work with the Hospital’s Administrative Team in developing long and short range goals and objectives, as well as development strategies for the hospital.
  • Implement and administer new business development and/or new service line initiatives for the hospital.
  • Compile, update and analyze market share and patient origin data, referral patterns, demographics and trends in service utilization, and competitive forces for hospital service lines in an effort to identify and pursue growth opportunities.
  • Ensure that the financial, operational strategic objectives of the department are achieved.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with physicians and their staff, and work proactively with Administrative Team to resolve physician concerns.
  • Work with department managers to identify development opportunities specific to their area of responsibility.
  •  Coordinate physician and hospital outreach referral visits – follow-up with referring physician or hospital to ensure satisfactory service.
  • Compile and monitor transport reports; send annual than you/acknowledgement letters to referring physicians and hospitals.
  • Oversee the development of marketing materials and advertising campaigns for the hospital
  • Reports to CEO on recent and upcoming projects, to include results achieved, problems and/or opportunities.
  • Attend Directors meetings, present progress report on department initiatives.
  • Assist CEO with lobbying initiatives on behalf of hospital.
  • Other projects as directed by the CEO.

What qualifications you will need:
  • Masters Degree required
  • Five plus (5+) years of experience developing and implementing a marketing/public relations program in a acute care hospital setting
