Volunteer ESOL Small Group Tutor

Action Inc. is seeking a compassionate and dedicated volunteer who is passionate about helping others make a positive change in their lives by serving as a Volunteer ESOL Small Group Tutor with our Education & Training team.Action Inc. is about helping people and changing lives. Our mission is to advance economic equity and foster a thriving community on Cape Ann and beyond.Duties/Responsibilities: Teach a small group of 2-3 adult students who are low-beginner level second language learners. Teach the basic components of English, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening.Identify and develop appropriate curricula and teaching materials to aid students to advance their English skills.Monitor and assess students' progress. Communicate with students about their progress. Act in the best interest of the organization, reflecting the values of teamwork, collaboration, and mutual respect.Other duties as assigned and mutually agreed upon. Required Skills/Abilities:Ability to relate to and work with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.Experience teaching English as a second or other language preferred.Knowledge of instructional materials and adult education methods preferred. Ability to comply with and successfully complete a CORI background check Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time. Massachusetts Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI).Name-based criminal record check (CORI) returns information on available Massachusetts arraignments.
