The CNO manages, directs, plans and coordinates the functions and activities of assigned areas; oversees and administers assigned patient care programs and services; assists the hospital’s CEO and hospital’s Board of Directors and other corporate administrators in the development, formulation and implementation of hospital strategic plans and serves as part of the hospital’s senior management team. This position develops/approves organization-wide patient care programs, policies and procedures that describe how patient’s nursing care are assessed, evaluated and met, involves pertinent individuals/departments, obtains medical staff input/approvals as needed, assures that policies reflect the institution’s policies, medical staff bylaws and governing board decisions.
