Honeywell was founded by engineer Mark Honeywell in 1906. However, the company has connections dating back to 1885, when inventor Albert Butz founded the Butz Thermo-Electric Regulator Co., patented the furnace regulator and alarm, and created the “damper flapper." In 1893, the Butz patent and business were acquired by the Consolidated Temperature Controlling Co., which was later renamed the Minneapolis Heat Regulation Company and merged with The Honeywell Heating Specialty Co. in 1927.
