Plants, removes, maintains, prunes, and protects city street and park trees to provide safe and healthy park, street and sidewalk clearance by identifying street safety hazards caused by trees and shrubs; inspects sidewalks damaged by city trees and notifies the proper supervisor; maintains tools and equipment used in park maintenance and gardening. Prepares park buildings and structures for painting by cleaning surfaces, patches, fills, tapes, textures and sands, paints building and structure interiors and exteriors, applies paint, varnishes and lacquers by using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment; mixes paint; does sign lettering on wood; maintains painting equipment and tools; provides information on the time and materials it took to complete the job.
