At Children's of Alabama, we are a Level 1 Trauma center providing a full-service operating room that provides surgical procedures in the following services: Orthopedics, Otolaryngology (ENT), Urology, Neurosurgery, Plastics, Ophthalmology, Oral Surgery, General Surgery, Gastroenterology, Dental, Gynecology, Pulmonary and Transplant Surgery-livers and kidneys. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) defines an operating room (OR) as a place of service specifically equipped and staffed for the sole purpose of performing surgical procedures.
