JOB SUMMARY: The Accounting Associate performs duties involving maintaining accurate financial records, processing vendor payments, supporting overall accounting operations, and other duties needed to assist the Finance Department. TITLE: Accounts Payable Specialist REPORTS TO: Controller CLASSIFIED: Part-Time, Non-Exempt LOCATION: Brookings, SD  MISSION: To inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.  JOB SUMMARY: The Accounting Associate performs duties involving maintaining accurate financial records, processing vendor payments, supporting overall accounting operations, and other duties needed to assist the Finance Department. The Accounting Associate is expected to uphold the Club values inside and outside of the Club. The Club values include teamwork, impact driven, excellence & good character. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: <ul><li>Enter, verify, and process vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner  </li></ul><ul><li>Generate checks and reconcile ACH payments  </li></ul><ul><li>Ensure proper coding and approval of invoices in accordance with company policies  </li></ul><ul><li>Maintain vendor files and ensure timely responses to inquiries  </li></ul><ul><li>Communicate with staff and vendors to resolve billing or payment discrepancies  </li></ul><ul><li>Assist with month-end closing procedures as needed </li></ul><ul><li>Enter donations as received </li></ul><ul><li>Count cash and prepare deposits </li></ul><ul><li>Assist with maintaining licensed billing records </li></ul><ul><li>Assist with maintaining CCA records </li></ul><ul><li>Communicate with families regarding balances as needed  </li></ul><ul><li>Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller </li></ul>EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS: <ul><li>High school diploma required, associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field preferred </li></ul><ul><li>Previous experience in accounts payable or general accounting (2+ years preferred)  </li></ul><ul><li>Strong attention to detail and organizational skills  </li></ul><ul><li>Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel  </li></ul><ul><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills  </li></ul><ul><li>Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines  </li></ul><ul><li>Preferred experience in Office 365, Excel, and Blackbaud software systems </li></ul><ul><li>Positive attitude, pro-active approach and the ability to multi-task. </li></ul><ul><li>Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills </li></ul><ul><li>Keen attention to detail </li></ul><ul><li>Good organization, time management and prioritization </li></ul><ul><li>Efficient troubleshooting abilities </li></ul><ul><li>Effective communication skills, including speaking, writing and active listening </li></ul><ul><li>Good interpersonal skills </li></ul>  PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: <ul><li>Must be of the mental and physical capacity to observe, interact, and communicate with youth, staff, volunteers, parents etc. at the Club. </li></ul><ul><li>Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds. </li></ul><ul><li>This position is considered to be safety-sensitive.   </li></ul>The information presented indicates the general nature and level of work expected of employees in this classification.
