Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesGrower AccountingCreate and set up Grower Blocks, Contract IDs, Distribution IDs, Product IDs, and Auto-charges in the Famous systemAccount for grower harvest, shipped, and sales activity; ensure complete traceability from field to customerLiquidate returns and process End-of-Season (EOS) pool settlements accurately and on schedulePrepare grower reports related to crop information and regional sales for internal stakeholders and growersReview grower contracts and distribution arrangements for proper accounting treatment; flag and resolve discrepanciesServe as a senior point of contact for complex grower inquiries; partner with Farming, Harvesting, and Sales to develop and reconcile reportsServes as back-up to Grower Accounting ManagerGeneral AccountingPrepare and review journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations as part of the monthly close, covering both grower payables (A/P Growers) and general ledger accountsPerform cash management activities and related reconciliationsSupport produce inventory management, contract labor and vendor onboarding as requiredEnsure transactions are recorded to the correct accounts and time periods; analyze accuracy of costs and salesEnsure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies and controlsShared ResponsibilitiesReview journal entries and reconciliations prepared by other accountants; provide guidance and mentorship to junior grower and general accountantsPartner with FP&A, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and other functional groups to support overall business objectivesSupport the annual financial audit and respond to auditor and tax requests across grower and general accountingIdentify and implement process improvements and drive efficienciesPerform ad hoc reporting, research, and analysis as neededOther duties as assignedJob Requirements and QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration is highly desired5-7 years or more of accounting experience is required; comparable experience in related agriculture accounting is highly desiredBilingual, bi-literate in English and Spanish is highly desiredAdvanced software skills are required, including Microsoft Office suite applications, (i.e., Excel, Word and Business Intelligence) is required; prior Famous experience is highly desiredWill operate various office equipment, including (not inclusive list): telephone, computer keyboard, photocopy machine, fax, 10-key calculator by touch, and other clerical and office equipmentAbility to maintain effective working relationships with growers, employees, supervisors, customers and peersAbility to research, retrieve and organize data to prepare reports and financial documentation; accurately perform complex mathematical computationsTrain, plan and coordinate work of others; coordinate workflow effectively, efficiently, and neatlyMake decisions on a variety of complex matters in accordance with established proceduresHigh level of attention to detail as well as superior organizational skills.
