Sample responsibilities for this position include: Perform minor painting, carpentry and masonry work Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps in order to repair HVAC and refrigeration equipment Connects HVAC wiring to household power supply Repairs or replaces any faulty, hazardous, or broken HVAC and refrigeration equipment Assists on projects such as HVAC and refrigeration equipment Responsible for assuring that all equipment in facility including the computer room (Fire Alarm Systems, Generator, Boilers, A/C Units, Anhydrous Ammonia familiarity a plus, UPS System, UPS Batteries, Modular Power Units, Security System and Building Management System and Environmental Units) is on a preventative maintenance program and that tasks are being completed Perform minor plumbing maintenance Perform electrical work up to and including 480 vac/3 phase Lighting repairs, replacements and upgrades Troubleshoot, repair, and service HVAC related equipment, compressor change out, motor replacement, leak detection, repair belts, filters, and drains Building Maintenance Qualifications Qualifications for a job description may include education, certification, and experience. Skills for Building Maintenance Desired skills for building maintenance include: Electrical Plumbing Use and care of tools and equipment used in facility and ground maintenance HVAC Painting Carpentry Lighting Alarm systems Basic Interior and Exterior building maintenance Communication systems Desired experience for building maintenance includes: College graduate with education in a related field, or equivalent work experience 3 years experience in semi-skilled building maintenance duties Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and thermostats in HCAV and refrigeration equipment Inspects, trouble shoots, and maintains HCAV and refrigeration equipment Performs any routine maintenance to the facilities refrigeration equipment Participates in the weekend "on-call" schedule and responds to calls in a timely and appropriate manner
