Gain knowledge and experience during the training period. Upon successful completion of apprenticeship, employee will be classified as a Journeyperson Control Technician.This is a benefits eligible, union position within the BTC. Facilities and Campus Services employees are required to attend staff development trainings and participate in the performance evaluation process.We require these qualifications:<ul><li>Experience modeling values that support inclusion, belonging, and wellbeing.</li><li>High school diploma or equivalent.</li><li>Mechanical aptitude for equipment installation, repair and maintenance.</li><li>Ability to acquire familiarity and/or knowledge of all aspects of the controls field.</li><li>Excellent verbal and written skills, customer relations skills, and the ability to work in a team environment.</li><li>Must belong to the local Electricians OR Plumbers Union, or be able to join within 30 days after starting employment at Cornell.</li><li>Must have and maintain a valid driver's license; may be required to operate a motor vehicle (your own vehicle or Cornell-owned) to travel to/from job sites.</li><li>Ability to maintain a safe work environment. Must be able to wear respirator and other employer-provided safety and PPE. Risk exposure to asbestos, toxic vapors, heat, cold, height and accumulated dirt.</li><li>Availability to work overtime as duties require, including weekends.</li><li>Possibility of shift work.</li><li>Able to ascend and descend heights and have agility and freedom of movement.</li><li>Climb stairs and ladders.</li><li>Able to move easily in confined spaces.</li><li>Ability to wear a respirator and other employer-provided safety equipment.</li><li>Ability to lift and/or move 50 pounds.</li></ul>You will be a top candidate with our preferred qualifications:<ul><li>Work experience in the electrical/control field and formal training beyond high school strongly desired.</li><li>Experience with computers helpful.</li></ul>Visa Sponsorship is not available for this position.
