Minimum QualificationsA) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate's degree in Automotive Technology; or,B) Two (2) years of work experience, or its part-time equivalent, in the repair and maintenance of automotive equipment; or,C) Completion of a two (2) year vocational education program majoring in Automotive Technology and one (1) year of work experience as defined by the limits of (B); or,D) A combination of training (equivalent in scope to an Automotive Technology curriculum) and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B) and (C).Special Requirement Depending on AssignmentMay be required to possess a valid non-CDL or CDL with appropriate endorsement as required by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles for the class of vehicle(s) being operated. Tunes vehicles and equipment, replaces spark plugs, rotors, distributor caps, spark plug wires, gas filters, inspects electrical systems, diagnoses fuel problems, uses an electric tune up machine to adjust carburetors, timing, dwell, revolutions per minute (rpm's), inspects vacuum advance, coils, diagnoses valve problems and vacuum leaks.
