Work is performed primarily in a vehicle maintenance shop, but incumbent must be willing to work outdoors when needed (e.g., Some remote site work is necessary to ensure success of repairs, diagnose problems, and assist police by conducting automotive forensic investigations of serious or fatal accidents occurring within city limits.). Performs diagnostics and repairs on electrical and electronic systems including alternators, batteries, auxiliary lighting systems, light bars, siren systems, ignitions, fuel controls, engine control modules, and instrument panels.
