When assigned to Street Division: May assist in repairs and patching streets by loading asphalt and raking, shoveling, and rolling asphalt; Assists concrete crew with removing and replacing concrete; Removes graffiti and sign posts with front loader, and graffiti truck truck/pressure washer; Inspects ditches, drainage areas, and roadside shoulders for removal of weeds and application of herbicides and sprays; Assists other departments performing emergency work such as road closures, street failures, and drain work; Hauls soil utilizing a scraper; Covers waste with tarps, green waste and soil in compliance with permit documents and State regulations; Operates skip loader and sorts waste for diversion in the load consolidation area; Identifies equipment needs for each assigned project; and. Works with and assists line crew in digging ditches, pole holes, hoisting material, tools, equipment, transformers, and any related work with a backhoe or differ derrick; Operates grader to grade landfill haul roads and tipping pads; Pushes and compacts waste; Separates hazardous materials from refuse; Interacts with representatives from regulatory agencies, drivers and other divisions and departments using the landfill; Inspects, cleans, maintains, and performs minor repairs on equipment and report the need for major repairs; Maintains landfill gas collection system, surface drainage and leachate collection systems; Maintains appropriate records and logs; Assists in training new employees to use tools and power equipment safely and productively; and.
