RESPONSIBILITIES:Calibration Strategy & PlanningDefine calibration targets and acceptance criteria for torque, regen, drivability, and limits/deratesPlan and prioritize test activities across dyno, vehicle, road, and HIL environmentsAlign calibration content and parameters with systems and controls teams across variantsTest Execution (Dyno, Vehicle, HIL)Execute structured calibration tests for torque, regen, traction/ESC, and thermal behaviorSupport REX validation (start/stop, load steps, charge sustain, NVH aspects)Ensure proper instrumentation setup and signal validation with measurement teamsData Analysis & OptimizationAnalyze logs and traces (MDF/BLF/CSV) to identify issues and calibration gapsOptimize parameters for trade‑offs (performance, comfort, efficiency, thermal limits)Produce KPI reports, comparisons, and sensitivity analysesDiagnostics, Safety & OBD AlignmentValidate diagnostics (DTCs), limp modes, and derating strategiesEnsure alignment with OBD requirements and safety constraintsVerify protection functions (thermal, torque limits, HV safety mechanisms)Configuration, Traceability & ReleaseManage calibration versions, baselines, and configuration controlPrepare release packages including changes, validation evidence, and rollback plansSupport CI integration and automated regression workflowsCross‑Functional CollaborationWork closely with controls teams on calibration intent and algorithm feedbackCoordinate with HIL, vehicle dynamics, thermal, BMS, and NVH teamsEnsure cross‑domain alignment and fast issue resolutionQUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related technical field4–8+ years experience in BEV/HEV calibration or propulsion system controls & calibrationEquivalent practical experience in calibration or propulsion system development may also be consideredStrong background in vehicle dynamics, control systems, or electrified powertrain systemsREQUIRED SKILLS:4–8+ years experience in BEV/HEV calibration or propulsion system controls & calibrationStrong knowledge of electric powertrain systems (motor, inverter, torque arbitration, regen strategies)Experience with calibration tools (Vector CANape/CANoe and/or ETAS INCA)Proficiency in data analysis tools (MATLAB and/or Python)Understanding of vehicle diagnostics (UDS, OBD principles)Knowledge of thermal management and derating strategies in EV systemsExperience with vehicle communication networks (CAN, CAN FD, LIN, Ethernet)Ability to interpret logs (MDF/BLF) and perform structured data analysisUnderstanding of functional safety principles (ISO 26262 exposure)Strong problem‑solving and cross‑functional communication skillsPREFERRED SKILLS:Experience with VolkswagenWillingness to travelPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to, sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs. PURPOSE:This role owns calibration planning, execution, analysis, and release for BEV propulsion functions (torque delivery, regen blending, limits/derates, drivability, thermal interactions) with cross‑support for Range Extender (REX) energy management where applicable.
