The Chief, Primary Care is responsible for the creation of policies, procedures, and guidelines for clinical care, treatment, services, and processes in the outpatient clinics; ensuring direct reports receive required training and orientation; participation in the selection of new medical staff for Primary Care units; monitoring the performance of medical services in Primary Care; understanding the policies and programs of oversight organizations that affect Primary Care clinics. The Chief, Primary Care is the lead physician in Primary Care, which involves directing and coordinating medical care, supervising physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants, as well as primary responsibility for a panel of patients.
