10) CONTINUING EDUCATIONParticipates and attends in-service education, formal training sessions, external educational opportunities and does outside reading pertaining to the profession of Respiratory Care.

p>They perform the therapy, management, rehabilitation, diagnostic evaluation and care of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities which affect the cardiopulmonary system and associated aspects of other system functions. p>Perform specific testing techniques to assist in diagnosis, monitoring, treatment and research, including the measurement of ventilatory volumes, pressures and flows, specimen collection of blood and other materials, hemodynamic and other related physiological monitoring of cardiopulmonary systems, including the inserting, monitoring, and maintaining of arterial catheters and the monitoring and maintenance of other cardiovascular indwelling catheters, including central venous and pulmonary artery catheters following appropriate education and training.

Utilizes respiratory equipment in all modalities to include but not limited to: medical gases such as oxygen, Heliox, and nitric oxide therapy, IPPB treatments, aerosol treatments, chest physiotherapy and other airway clearance techniques according to physician orders or protocols to meet patient respiratory needs.

p>Performs the therapy, management, rehabilitation, diagnostic evaluation and care of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities which affect the cardiopulmonary system and associated aspects of other system functions.

Demonstrates efficiency across clinical/critical care settings to provide quality service to patient care units through communication, cooperation and collaboration with heath care team.

Provide physician support during bronchoscopy such as, instilling solutions, taking biopsy samples, utilizing brushings per department protocols, handling, labeling, and ordering of samples in EMR from physician order, transport of specimens to lab for processing, and billing/documentation of procedure.

Demonstrates knowledge of principles, theory and operation of respiratory equipment and monitoring systems in the critical care environment (mechanical ventilators, BIPAP/CPAP machines, High-Flow systems) to all age groups as evidenced by competencies and/or direct observation.

approved program • Advanced training in therapies for persons of all ages desirable • Current registration as a Registered Respiratory Therapist from the National Board of Respiratory Care OR must be obtained within 6 months of employment • Current license within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Respiratory Therapist • Current CPR certification required • Current NRP required within three months of employment • ACLS desirable.
