Under the general supervision of the Bailey College Associate Dean for Student Success, Inclusive Excellence, and Curriculum, and working directly with the Director of BCSM Student Services, this position works with a moderate degree of independence to provide holistic academic advising to undergraduate students including developing tailored academic plans; selecting courses, concentrations, and minors; referring to campus partners, such as basic needs programs and Campus Health & Wellbeing; explaining campus policies and procedures; recommending strategies for academic success; guiding students through the change of major process; and interpreting curriculum sheets and articulation agreements. Each year, more than 23,000 top-tier students come to Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo and Cal Poly Maritime Academy in Solano County to put knowledge into action, taking their learning outside the classroom as they prepare for careers in engineering, agriculture, science, business, humanities, maritime and the built environment.
