More specifically, the Compliance Specialist will have the following responsibilities: Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory licenses, permits, plans, and procedures; Develop and submit letters and reports required for FERC license and state permit requirements and ensure timely submission to meet required deadlines; Oversee the implementation of and compliance with FERC, state and corporate dam safety regulations, programs, initiatives and inspection programs, including the development of and submission of required reports; Coordinate FERC, state and internal dam inspections; Coordinate annual plan reviews of Emergency Action Plans, Public Safety Plans, SPCCs, etc; Prepare, track, and ensure timely submission of required reports to applicable regulatory agencies; Assess the risk/impact of company activities and projects and advise project team of environmental issues, flows, and water level fluctuations/modifications; Manage schedules for regulator inspections and meetings, and lead onsite visits or virtual meetings; Manage contractors and consultants to ensure completion of environmental and engineering studies; Initiate and participate in meetings and discussions with regulators. Consult with required agencies regarding water management plans, fisheries, and other regulatory issues; Work with both the Compliance and Licensing Managers to support the hydro re-licensing efforts to include supplying and interpreting data, and researching licensing related issues; Interpret, analyze, and compile measurements/monitoring/sampling of fish and other wildlife, stream flow gaging, water levels, etc. for FERC license and state permit compliance.
