In collaboration with the Attending Clinical Veterinarian, this position is responsible for planning, advising, overseeing, monitoring and conducting the following: detection and surveillance for disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment and resolution; animal handling and restraint, anesthetics, analgesics and tranquilizer drugs and methods of euthanasia; surgical and post-surgical care; promotion and monitoring of animals’ physical and psychological well-being. The veterinarian will be required to maintain compliance with the following document versions or newer versions or revisions thereof: The Guide, Public Health Service Policy, Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW) Assurance, The AVMA Guidelines for the Euthanasia of Animals 2013, AR 40-33, AR 40-61, AR 70-65.
