Key responsibilities include determining load weights and verifying lifting capacities to prevent overloads, inspecting and assisting with adjustments to crane components to prevent malfunctions or damage, and helping maintain equipment through cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs of mechanisms such as cables, pulleys, and grappling devices. The Crane Operator is responsible for safely operating overhead cranes, electromagnets, and other material-handling equipment to lift, move, and position materials throughout the Melt Shop.
