<h5>Accountant / Assistant Controller </h5><p>Job Category: Finance and Accounting </p><p>Position available: Immediately </p><p>Location: 560 Graniteville Road Graniteville, VT 05654 </p><h5>Description </h5><p>Under the responsibility of the Finance Controller, the candidate will play a key role at Rock of Ages Corporation within the Polycor Group. We're looking for someone to perform accounting functions and transaction processing for this subsidiary. Polycor is an international company in which the candidate will be able to develop to their full potential. </p><p>We are willing to train the right candidate to progress to Assistant Controller if experience is limited. </p><p>Duties include, but are not limited to: </p><ul><li>Perform month-end close functions. </li><li>Monitor capital asset purchases and maintain fixed asset module. </li><li>Reconcile balance sheet accounts. </li><li>Prepare adjusting entries related to inventory movements for multiple locations. </li><li>Review and post payroll entries. </li><li>Prepare monthly and year-end financial statements. </li><li>Prepare various production and financial reports for management. </li><li>Ensure quality and accuracy of all entries and prepared reports. </li><li>Compile financial data for our external audits. </li><li>Participate in the forecasting and budgeting process. </li><li>Perform back-up accounting functions for other team members. </li></ul><h5>Profile </h5><p>You must be autonomous, open-minded, exercise good judgment and discernment, be thorough, respect confidentiality, and demonstrate strong organizational skills and responsibility. <h2>Overview</h2><p>Copley Hospital, located in Morrisville/Stowe VT, is in search of an Accounting Assistant to join our team! As an Accounting Assistant at Copley Hospital, you will play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth operation of our accounting department. You will work closely with our finance team to handle various accounting tasks, including data entry, reconciliations, payroll, and financial reporting. Compliance with all applicable State and Federal laws, regulations, and policies governing the provision of health care.</p><p> </p><p>This position is Full-Time (PT options available). </p><p> </p><p>Copley Hospital has a variety of shifts available across <strong>Full-Time, Part-Time, and Per Diem </strong>needs. An offer of employment may be outside of the posted range based on those factors.</strong></p><h2>Responsibilities</h2><ul><li>Accounts Payable Invoices - receives, prepares, processes and reconciles invoices.</li><li>Accounts Payable Checks - prepares, verifies and selects invoices for payment in accordance with vendor’s payment terms. Issues weekly check runs for various system entities. Maintains an accounts payable subsidiary ledger.</li><li>Accounts Payable Vendors - creates new Accounts Payable vendors within the system and follows up on getting W-9 forms completed and OIG checks completed.</li><li>Maintains a spreadsheet to monitor the cash balances in various system entities.</li><li>Mail - picks up, processes and delivers the Accounting department's mail daily.</li><li>Email - manage accounts payable email which includes electronic invoices, manager approvals and follow up.</li><li>Payroll - reviews time sheets for accuracy and clarifies inconsistencies with department managers.  Ensures employees are being paid according to in-house policies and Union Contract. Distributes on a weekly basis.</li><li>Payroll - provides backup for other payroll tasks which includes inputting miscellaneous payments as directed by HR, processing bi-weekly payroll for approximately 450 employees, transmitting electronic direct deposit files to the bank, reconciling and preparing federal and state tax deposits.</li><li>Helps prepare W2’s and 1099’s on annual basis.</li><li>Miscellaneous data entry into the company accounting systems.</li><li>Other duties as directed by the controller.</li></ul><h2>Qualifications</h2><p> </p><ul><li>Communication skills which include verbal, written and interpersonal skills</li><li>Organizational abilities, must be detail oriented</li><li>Knowledge of accounting principles</li></ul>
