p>CORE DUTIES: Provide one-on-one academic support and counsel to students, working with them to review their study habits and performance on exams and practice problems in order to support their growth as lawyers;
Provide one-on-one academic advising to students as they make course selections, including Advanced Degree students who must take courses that satisfy specific bar requirements, and joint degree students who have to navigate multiple programs' requirements;
Support the Director of Academic Success in academic and bar-related programming at SLS, including revising presentations and support for presentations and academic / bar events;
Administer the Academic Success Program;
Collaborate with others to help resolve program issues and concerns, interpret policies and mediate complex and sensitive issues.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Strong preference will be given to candidates with the following qualifications and experience:
Familiarity with the subjects tested on and the format of the California, NextGen, and Uniform Bar Exams;
Degree or experience in Education or Counseling;
Experience in academic support/skills programs at the law-school level;
The ability to juggle multiple competing priorities and meet firm deadlines;
The ability to handle confidential information and exhibit good judgment in working with students, faculty, and staff;
A strong understanding of the conceptual frameworks of growth mindset, stereotype threat, and belonging; and.
