Advisors also advise customers about necessary service for routine maintenance, help identify a mechanical problem by questioning the customer or doing a visual inspection, inspect all vehicles upon write-up and take pictures on the drive, informing customers if work is needed and or any damage, obtain proper authorization before any additional repairs are performed, explains cost and time requirements in detail, obtain customer's signature on pre-write and provide customers with a copy, input the pre-writes into the computer system allowing the system to dispatch the incoming work, document a brief description of the customer's concern on the repair order to help the technician locate the problem, refer to service history, inspect vehicle, and recommend additional needed service, confer with customers about inspection results, recommend solutions, and prepare work orders for needed repairs, prepare a repair order showing time, cost, and labor estimates for service, advise customers on the care of their cars and the value of maintaining their vehicles according to manufacturers' specifications, provide a complete and accurate written cost estimate for labor and parts, establish "promised time" and communicate with the customer, check on the progress of repairs throughout the day. Close repair orders as appropriate, explain the work performed and the repair order charges to the customer, perform Active Delivery on every customer where possible, and establish customer's method of payment.
