The role also includes operating the power injector, following radiation safety practices to keep exposure low for patients and staff, identifying patients with two identifiers (name and birth date), recognizing normal and abnormal image findings and reporting them to a supervisor or radiologist, monitoring equipment and documenting failures promptly, and keeping medical and clerical supplies stocked. Duties include working with HIS, RIS, and PACS (ordering, monitoring, validating images, and completing studies), organizing patient information, reports, and prior films for interpretation, interviewing patients for history and explaining exams, and producing images using department protocols.
