GENERAL PURPOSE : Under general direction, plans, directs, coordinates and administers the daily functions and activities of the Solid Waste Division of Public Works to include convenience station, composting facility, and landfill; ensures compliance with County policies; prepares, manages, and maintains budget to control cost and efficiency; monitors and oversees expenditures; prepares required reports; researches alternative funding resources to assist in the operations, recycling, and collection events; manages staff and resources; maintains safe work practices; remains current on new or improved disposal and related technologies; and performs other administrative support functions as directed by the Public Works Director. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Environmental Planning, or related field, and four years of administrative experience in the field of solid waste management, that includes working knowledge of landfill operations, regulation and safety enforcement that includes two years of staff supervisory and budgetary experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
