Responsibilities ***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Duties include but not limited to the following: Collaborates with Oral Surgeon, General Dentist, or the Prosthodontist to design and fabricate complex dental or intra-oral maxillofacial appliances; Resolves problems in fabrication; Performs duties involving fixed, semi-fixed, or removable implant cases and partial/complete dentures; Constructs routine full and partial dentures, dental splints and obturators, model work for fixed prostheses and other laboratory products; Performs functions to include pouring primary and final impressions, fabricating custom trays, fabricating bite rims, mounting casts on articulators, setting teeth for trial dentures/partials, investing, packing, processing, and finishing dentures/partials, polishing prostheses, adding teeth to prostheses, pouring and pinning final crown and bridge impressions, sectioning dies, fabricating fluoride trays, fabricating stints, fabricating transitional partials, managing implant fabrication process, fabricating wrought wire clasps, and fabricating fixed prostheses including metal and ceramic restorations; Performs quality assurance and inspections on prostheses fabricated by outside laboratories, including prescription compliance; Provides education, training, and instruction to other clinic personnel; and Performs all other duties as assigned. At this grade level, qualifying specialized experience also includes: experience constructing porcelain or acrylic fixed or semi-fixed bridge restorations, full or removable partial dentures, or orthodontic appliances, or dental splints and obturators, when the construction of the appliance is complicated because of the unusual nature or intricacy of the design required to overcome acute abnormalities; applying a thorough technical knowledge of both normal and abnormal oral anatomy and dentition as these affect the design, fabrication, function, and esthetics of the dental prosthesis being constructed.
