As an Associate Teacher you will: Assists children safely during boarding, riding, and exiting the bus, including fastening seat belts, maintaining safety, setting limits, keeping children seated, and supporting emergency proceduresKeeps the Bus Driver informed about concerns involving individual children or familiesEngages children with age‑appropriate activities such as games, songs, and conversation during transportationConducts end‑of‑trip bus inspections by straightening seat belts, removing trash, and checking for children or belongingsEnsures the established seating chart is followedReleases children only to authorized adults at the end of the dayVerifies all children have been dropped off using sign‑in sheetsProvides care and education for children ages 0-5 in a positive, engaging learning environmentCollaborates with the Center Supervisor and Teachers to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activitiesAssumes Teacher responsibilities when needed, guiding instructional assistants, parents, and volunteersMaintains a safe, clean, and nurturing classroom environmentSupports the planning and delivery of educational activities that promote child developmentParticipates in physical activities with children, including games, music, and outdoor playCompletes pediatric first aid and pediatric CPR training within the first 30 days of hireCompletes 16 hours of training on preventive health practices and nutrition within the first 30 days of hire. HS/EHS/MSHS/State-Braided Associate Teachers must also meet at least one of the following criteria: Have a child development associate (CDA) credential or the California equivalent of a Child Development Associate Teacher Permit at time of hire (12 ECE semester units including core courses; and for EHS and infant/toddler classrooms must also have 6 infant/toddler semester units)ORBe enrolled in a CDA credential program that will be completed within 2 years;ORHave an associate or bachelor's degree (in any area) or be enrolled in a program leading to such a degree.
