The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: Sitting or standing for prolonged periods of time, kneeling, stooping, pulling, pushing, reaching, and handling; moving quickly in response to situations of potential danger to students and/or staff; ability to lift up to 50 pounds; restrain students, when necessary, using district approved techniques; and working outdoors and in inclement weather. The Special Education Paraeducator performs a variety of support to the special education program, providing services to students with a variety of disabilities ranging from mild to moderate developmental disabilities to severe and profound in the areas of speech, motor, social, behavioral, academic, and cognitive skills.
