Duties: lead automotive calibration development projects to calibrate engine control algorithms and improve key engine performance attributes; lead, develop, and create test plans for current and future components and features, including testing and validation of new embedded controls, diagnostic monitors, and other features for engine control algorithms; coach, mentor, and train entry level calibration engineers; create system process improvement and implementation plans; stay abreast of new technology and competitive products to determine applicability to current development projects; lead calibration peer reviews and subsystem product development team meetings; suggest calibration procedure enhancements and share lessons learned; perform root cause analysis and error correction of system level problems relating to calibration, controls, hardware, software, and architecture; develop and perform tests to ensure quality, functionality and safety of controls software using manual and automated test platforms; coordinate input from internal/external customers to better understand customer needs and/or perceptions. Included within the 4 years of experience, must have experience in all of the following: MATLAB and Simulink; implementing internal combustion engines knowledge and expertise to develop effective engine and Hardware in Loop (HIL) test methods; analyzing and interpreting control algorithms for engine architecture to improve quality of products and to perform calibration, tuning and testing activities; troubleshooting systems engineering problems using problem solving methods (5 Whys, Fishbone, or 7-Steps); real time testing and decoding experience using at least one communications protocol (CAN, LIN, or TCP/IP) and troubleshooting any related issues; product lifecycle management tools (Windchill, PTC Integrity, SAP, or Teamcenter PLM); reviewing and interpreting product drawings, wiring diagrams and architecture diagrams; performing data analysis and using results for the creation, testing, verification, and validation of control/diagnostic features.
