We are seeking a skilled Electrical-Control Systems Engineer II - III to join our Engineering Team. In this role, you’ll bring automated systems to life—from design to programming to on-site commissioning and troubleshooting. You’ll work directly with our clients and internal teams to ensure projects are delivered smoothly, safely, and successfully.As our Electrical-Control System Engineer II-III, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and testing of electrical control systems across multiple projects. You will support efforts in project management, hardware selection, PLC and HMI programming, panel design, field commissioning, and system troubleshooting.Your responsibilities will include developing PLC and HMI applications, programming complex sequences such as lead/lag and cascade PID control and performing in-shop testing and on-site startups. You will coordinate with production personnel, vendors, and internal teams to ensure project alignment. You will participate in panel layout design, bill of material creation, and design analysis including fuse, breaker, and wire sizing. You will also be responsible for technical document writing, including training materials and testing procedures, and for supporting continuous training and development efforts.The skills you need:What will you do in this role:<ul><li>Utilize Knowledge of industry standards (UL508A, NEC, IEEE) to design and specify hardware and software for industrial control systems</li><li>Configure PLCs, OITs, and SCADA Systems for industrial process and water/wastewater systems</li><li>Lead intermediate-level projects independently, mentoring and guiding other team members</li><li>Lead field commissioning efforts, including I/O checkout, functional testing, and system startup of PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, VFDs, and instrumentation.</li><li>Troubleshoot real-time issues across automation hardware, software, and communication networks.</li><li>Collaborate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and end users to ensure smooth implementation and customer satisfaction.</li><li>Provide field service and technical support post-installation as needed.</li><li>Redline drawings, document commissioning activities, and support project closeout efforts.</li></ul>Education, Experience and Ability Requirements: <ul><li>Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Instrumentation, or related field — or equivalent hands-on experience.</li><li>Minimum 5-7 years of experience in automation design, programming, startup, service, or commissioning roles.</li><li>Proficiency in PLC/HMI/SCADA systems such as Rockwell (Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View), Siemens, Schneider, GE, VTScada, Ignition, etc.</li><li>Strong understanding of industrial networks: Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP, serial protocols, and wireless communications.</li><li>Ability to interpret P&IDs, single-line diagrams, and electrical schematics.</li><li>Field-ready attitude, with excellent problem-solving skills and a commitment to safety.</li><li>Comfortable working in industrial, municipal, or water/wastewater environments.</li><li>Strong interpersonal skills and customer service mindset.</li><li>Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel frequently.</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications: <ul><li>Experience with GE iFIX, Schneider Unity/Control Expert, or Siemens TIA Portal</li><li>VFD startup certifications (ABB, Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, etc.)</li><li>Experience with instrument calibration and loop checks</li><li>OSHA 30 or other industrial safety training</li></ul>Answering your questions:When you are considering a new job, it is normal to have a ton of questions. Job Description Instrument and Controls Tech Residency Requirements: Successful candidate will live within 1 hour drive to of Turk Powerplant. What You'll Do: + The Instrument and Controls Technician will perform and mentor other members of the crew in the performance of the following activities: + Maintains alarm database, alarm priority changes, alarm disabled reporting. 20) Manages site Logic Change Request (LCR) process. + Maintains the integrity of the Standardized Security Architecture (SSA) within the process control environment including updating antivirus definitions, installing operating system patches, installing control system software patches, modifying group and local policies, etc. + Assist others in preparing necessary data for engineering procedures, specifications, bills of material and requisitions for the installation, maintenance and operation of equipment. + Set up and connect testing devices used in tests on equipment such as boilers, turbines, generators, and other power plant equipment; perform or assist others in the performance of such tests. + Operate and maintain equipment necessary to obtain temperatures, levels, pressures, and flows to obtain accuracy required; analyze data and calculate test results, applying general knowledge of flows using available handbooks, manuals and associated referenced material. + Compile and record data relating to tests, investigations. Prepare graphs, curves and reports. + Maintain analyzing equipment to ensure accurate information for plant operations. + Possess strong knowledge of facility specific processes and systems. + Perform activities necessary to correct problems with components of equipment, search for root causes of the problem, and pursue activities that will prevent reoccurrences in the future. + Locate, inspect, troubleshoot and repair defects in control systems involving electrical, solid state electronic, mechanical, pneumatic or hydraulic components, tubing, (or plant specific systems) using elementary or wiring diagrams, schematic diagrams or control diagrams, along with an extensive knowledge of process control. + Install, calibrate, tune and maintain single-element and multiple-element control loops. + Perform necessary functions to place in or remove from service, instrument and control systems undergoing study, tests or adjustments. + Lead, instruct, direct, and train other employees assigned to assist in the work and oversee contractors. + Troubleshooting PLC and DCS Control Systems, Force Contacts, and locate hardware I/O addresses. Build basic programming logic. + Maintain control systems equipment in the Process Control Environment (workstations, control and I/O modules, and networking infrastructure) to keep the control systems online and operational at all times. Provide failure response coverage on a rotational basis (with other team members) to ensure 24 hour/7 day a week technical support. + Work with Maintenance (designated Control Systems) Supervisor to configure, troubleshoot, and maintain generating station specific DCS and TCS, interfaces, software and hardware upgrades. + Works in conjunction with Engineering or Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Tech support to troubleshoot and tune steam generator and turbine control loops to keep unit running at maximum efficiency. + Leads control system loop checks and commissioning phase projects. Red lines drawings to turn over to Engineering for official updates. What We're Looking For: Education requirements are listed below: High School Diploma or GED. Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Instrumentation Controls or in lieu of degree, four years of direct experience in an industrial technical position. For a Certificate-- Electronics/Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation , or without a degree/certificate, at least four years of industrial electronics or electrical experience. Must have successful completion of an OEM training course on plant specific DCS. Work Experience requirement listed below : With educational or equivalent requirements, an additional 2 years of experience as a power plant Instrument Technician or other applicable industrial technician experience with systems such as: Ovation, ABB, Foxboro, Allen-Bradley .
