Takes steps necessary to produce excellent work in any task or job that is assigned as evidenced by inserting INT and draws labs as directed; Provides basic care functions and treatments (vital signs, daily weights, splints, specimen collection, etc); Provides personal hygiene care for patients; Assists with nutritional and dietary needs of patients; Exhibits technical competence in approved treatments and procedures; Performs phlebotomy and labels blood tubes correctly; Applies simple splints, dressings, and slings for uncomplicated injuries; Reports significant changes to the RN; Receives and issues change of shift report; Patient care areas, including but not limited to patient rooms are clean and organized; Provides patients with a safe environment according to the safety level policy; Assists with admissions, transfers, discharges, and expirations; Performs EKG promptly and accurately; Transports non monitored patients to diagnostic testing areas and inpatient room; Transports stable monitored patients to diagnostic testing areas and inpatient telemetry and critical care rooms. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure; Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors; Communicable diseases; Electrical shock; Floor Surfaces; Hot/Cold Temperatures; Indoor/Outdoor conditions; Latex; Lighting; Patient care/handling injuries; Radiation; Shift work; Travel may be required; Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators; environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
