In conjunction with the Department Nursing Operations Manager and the Assistant Nursing Operations Manager (ANOM); the CANM provides guidance, fosters collaboration, and is responsible for the unit’s clinical operations including patient care assignments, customer experience, productivity, and quality outcomes in settings where patients have an advanced illness or injury that routinely requires timely, intense, and complex care to stabilize and support the patient’s medical condition. Clinical activities include but not limited to: triaging ED patients, emergent stabilization of both medical and trauma patients, procedural sedation, cardiac monitoring as appropriate, medication administration, collection of laboratory specimens, IV therapy, point of care testing including; glucose monitoring, urine screens, and rapid strep screens, and patient and family education including medical care, treatment and prevention.
