<div><br/><div><br/><p><br/><br/></p><br/><h1><strong>Emergency Department Patient Care Technician (ED PCT)</strong></h1><br/><p><br/></p><h2><strong>What You’ll Do</strong></h2><br/><p>As an Emergency Department Patient Care Technician, you will support the Emergency Department clinical team by providing direct patient care and assisting with both clinical and clerical functions. You’ll play an essential role in delivering timely, compassionate, and efficient care to patients of all ages—from neonate to geriatric—while helping ensure smooth communication within the department and across the hospital. In this role, you will:</p><br/><ul id="pfm_form"><li><br/></li><li>Provide direct patient care and non‑professional services under the direction of an RN or physician, supporting patient comfort and safety.</li><li><br/></li><li>Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and other assistive clinical skills within scope of training.</li><li><br/></li><li>Monitor patients and promptly report changes in condition or concerns to the RN.</li><li><br/></li><li>Make frequent patient rounds, identifying and communicating safety hazards or patient needs.</li><li><br/></li><li>Assist with clerical duties and coordinate communication within the Emergency Department.</li><li><br/></li><li>Facilitate effective information exchange between the ED and other hospital departments.</li><li><br/></li><li>Help maintain order, cleanliness, and organization of the unit.</li><li><br/></li><li>Provide outstanding customer service to patients, families, visitors, and team members by utilizing AIDET, hourly rounding, bedside reporting, and prompt response to patient needs.</li><li><br/></li><li>Participate in performance improvement initiatives to support hospital quality goals and outcomes.</li><li><br/></li><li>Attend at least 50% of unit staff meetings to stay informed on department operations and expectations.</li><li><br/></li><li>Perform all other duties as assigned to support Emergency Department operations.</li><li><br/></li><li><br/></li></ul><br/><div style="list-style-type:disc;list-style-type:disc"><br/><h3><strong>Preferred Experience</strong></h3><br/></div><br/><ul><li><br/></li><li><strong>2–3 years</strong> of Emergency Department experience</li><li><br/></li><li style="list-style-type:disc"><br/><div><br/><h3><strong>Required Experience</strong></h3><br/></div><br/></li><li><br/></li><li>Minimum <strong>1 year</strong> of experience as a CNA or Paramedic</li><li><br/></li><li style="list-style-type:disc"><br/><div><br/><h3><strong>Preferred Licenses</strong></h3><br/></div><br/></li><li><br/></li><li>Iowa EMT‑P or Paramedic license</li><li><br/></li><li style="list-style-type:disc"><br/><div><br/><h3><strong>Required Licenses & Certifications</strong></h3><br/></div><br/></li><li><br/></li><li>Documentation of CNA certification <strong>or</strong></li><li><br/></li><li>Certified Medical Assistant <strong>or</strong></li><li><br/></li><li>Certified Emergency Medical Care Provider</li><li><br/></li><li><strong>BLS certification within six weeks of hire</strong></li><li><br/></li></ul><br/><div style="list-style-type:disc"><br/><h3><strong>Preferred Education</strong></h3><br/></div><br/><ul><li><br/></li><li>Paramedic course of study from an approved provider</li><li><br/></li></ul><br/><div style="list-style-type:disc"><br/><hr/><br/><h2><strong>What We’re Looking For</strong></h2><br/><p>We’re seeking a dependable, patient‑focused individual who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and is committed to teamwork, safety, and high‑quality emergency care.</p><br/><h3><strong>Required Education</strong></h3><br/></div><br/><ul><li><br/></li><li>Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) training from an approved provider <strong>or</strong></li><li><br/></li><li>Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program <strong>or</strong></li><li><br/></li><li>Completion of an Emergency Medical Care Provider program</li><li><br/></li></ul><br/></div><br/></div><br/>
