Basic knowledge of civil engineering design, systems, calculations, along with the application of engineering methods; • Experience in highway design and plan production with the ability to perform planning, conceptual design, preliminary engineering, and final design activities; • Experience with Bicycle and Pedestrian Facility Design; • Experience with various planning studies, such as transportation purpose and need assessments, multi-modal evaluations, logical termini/independent utility analyses, engineering feasibility and transportation planning studies, alternatives analyses, as well as all stages of project planning to obtain NEPA/MEPA approval; • Experience or interest in ITS Planning and Design, safety and mobility studies, Signing and Pavement Markings Design, Lighting Analysis and Design, and Traffic Signal Design. • Strong knowledge of AASHTO A Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets and Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices; • Experience with MicroStation, InRoads, and/or Open Roads Designer; • Experience with preparing quantities, cost estimates, plan sheets, specifications, and reports for milestone submittals; • Experience working with multi-discipline teams; • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and overall quality control and management; and; • Conscientious of project schedules and deadlines involving deliverables (including interim deadlines).
