Saginaw Covenant Academy is hiring a English Language Learner Teacher.  Must have Michigan teacher certification and endorsement in the subject. Covenant Academy is a year-round alternative high school diploma program for students ages 15-22. We are a mission-based school that meets students where they are, works to identify and eliminate barriers, and builds personal and meaningful parent-like relationships with each student. We offer half-day sessions, blended learning opportunities and personalized education plans to all youth who seek help, with a priority of concern and commitment to those who are most at risk and no other service is available. The ideal candidate will create an inclusive and supportive learning environment that encourages all students to reach their academic potential while acquiring proficiency in English. This role requires a deep understanding of language acquisition, cultural competence, and a commitment to promoting equity and diversity in the classroom.Responsibilities:Essential Duties:<ul><li>Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that meet the curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning styles and proficiency levels.</li><li>Work closely with students to set language proficiency goals and provide targeted support, helping them transition effectively into mainstream classes.</li><li>Foster an understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures within the classroom. Encourage students to share their backgrounds and experiences, promoting a sense of belonging and community.</li><li>Develop assessments and monitor student performance through various methods, including tests, quizzes, projects, and presentations.</li><li>Collaborate with colleagues to align curricula and participate in ongoing professional development initiatives.</li><li>Participate in school activities, meetings, and events to contribute to the overall mission of the institution.</li><li>Maintain a safe and positive environment for all students</li><li>Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and school staff</li><li>Regular and predictable attendance</li></ul>Cognitive Demands:<ul><li>Supervision of multiple students at once</li><li>Establishing routines and procedures</li><li>Maintaining a safe and orderly environment</li><li>Create and implement instructional plans</li><li>Participate in continuous professional development</li><li>Effective oral and written communication skills</li></ul>Physical Demands:<ul><li>Occasionally lift/move objects weighing up to 25lbs</li><li>Stand and walk frequently</li><li>Occasionally sit on the floor or bend down/squat</li><li>Withstand all demands presented by outside weather conditions at any time of the year</li><li>Withstand a moderate noise level</li><li>Be able to perform first aid/CPR if necessary</li><li>Assist/lift students, as necessary</li></ul>Qualifications:<ul><li>Bachelor's degree in Education, Linguistics, or a related field.
