The ESL/English Faculty member is responsible for academic advising and primarily teaching in ESL coursework, collaborating with colleagues regarding gateway English courses, collaborating across disciplines regarding writing-intensive courses, and other learning environments while fostering a supportive and engaging atmosphere that encourages active student participation, critical thinking, self-direction, communication competency, and professional development. This individual should demonstrate the ability to support student success initiatives related to retention, and academic readiness while encouraging students to engage in scholarly activity, experiential learning, undergraduate research, and other professional development opportunities relevant to communication, writing, and interdisciplinary learning.
