Patient Types: general medical: DMII, GI, GU, COVID, PNA, AMS, TIA, AKI, dehydration, ETOH, syncope, CKD, sepsis, stroke, dialysis, pulmonary edema, anemia, shock, hypoxia; cardiac: PCI pre/post care, CHF, MI, afib with RVR, NSTEMI, chest pain; high volume of post-cath lab procedures – TR bands, stent placements (must be familiar with the procedure), fresh cath patients (no sheaths) requiring q15 min checks, no art lines; oncology: could care for patients with oncology diagnoses but not required to give chemo unless requisition calls for it, diagnoses include leukemia, neutropenia, etc. Skills required: trach care, chest tube, TR band, post Cath Lab, central line maintenance care, general nursing; hard stops: reading/interpreting/measuring cardiac rhythm, caring for patients on bipap and high flow O2, comfortable with cardiac patients; must be comfortable titratable drips: diltiazem, amiodarone, heparin, digoxin, Bumex, Lasix.
