Hire, support and train Assistant Security managers on Loss Prevention protocols and techniques, as well as Standard Operating Procedures relevant to store emergency response. This position is also responsible for developing and maintaining department policies and procedures which contribute to storewide goals. Exhibit a sense of urgency when responding to all emergency situations. Monitor daily activity on the sales floor to ensure policies and procedures are being followed. Commitment to devote at least half of shift to working on the sales floor, enhancing a positive customer experience while physically observing and watching for security concerns. Create, implement and update security plans; provide trainings to both managers and employees.</li><li>Document and report all incidents and events related to security accordingly.</li><li>Monitor and audit security systems on a regular basis to provide maximum benefit to Co-op.</li><li>Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers, employees, local LP officers and law enforcement officials. Perform security walks throughout shift to ensure general work environment is safe and secure.</li><li>Apprehend shoplifters, when applicable. Investigate various loss prevention matters including shoplifting, internal theft, deliberate damage to product or company property, and any other suspicious or illegal activities while following proper procedures, guidelines and policies.</li><li>Investigate disturbances and warn violators of infractions such as loitering, smoking, and disorderly conduct.</li><li>Maintain Security Incident Log, Security Alert and Trespass Binders and provide regular updates to the Store Manager - Downtown.</li><li>Ensure appropriate, ongoing communication and prompt follow-ups regarding security incidents.</li><li>Remain informed of Loss Prevention industry knowledge and conditions of current local retail market.</li><li>Offer and solicit constructive feedback on how current systems or departments can be improved to mitigate shrink in all forms, both internally and externally caused.</li><li>Model and demonstrate outstanding customer service in all areas of the job with a constant focus on excellent customer experience and utilization of customer interactions as a theft deterrent.</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred.</li><li>Four years or more of security related experience which includes the use of CCTV security systems. Hotel Specific: This position is part time, with demand fluctuating seasonally. Coverage is needed primarily during events, with a heavy focus on monitoring the hotel during CANAM hockey tournaments throughout winter weekends. There is also a need during select timeframes in Summer; including but not limited to Basketball Tournaments, Lacrosse Tournaments, and children’s camps. Demand is typically lower during the spring and late fall.Please note that overnight security guard schedules typically begin between 5pm-6:30pm and end between 1am-2:30am. Physical Demands: • Ability to lift, carry, push or pull 100 lbs • This is an active role which may require extended periods of walking, kneeling, or stooping.
