CASA & CASA IN ACTION SYNOPSIS:CASA’s mission is to create a more just society by building power and improving the quality of life in working-class: Black, Latino/a/e, Afro-descendent, Indigenous, and Immigrant Communities. CASA has a sister organization, CASA in Action, a separate, but related, nonprofit organization that is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code.  Although CASA and CASA in Action share a common goal of supporting immigrants and low-income people in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, they are separate organizations with their own board of directors.  A set of employees at the two organizations, including the person filling this position, shares their time between the two organizations.  This has no effect on salary or benefits.DEPARTMENT SYNOPSIS:CASA’s Community Economic Development Department operates six centers in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties and Baltimore City. At the Centers, community members can join CASA and then become involved in organizing opportunities and receive services including employment, including vocational training, health, English classes, and legal services. The Department also coordinates vocational training courses.POSITION SUMMARY:The Vocational Education Training Coordinator will perform a range of duties to ensure the effective delivery of life-skills and vocational training to low- skilled workers. Works directly with the Education Team to develop and identify trainings for members across Centers.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul><li>Assessing types of training needed by both employers and members.</li><li>Analyze and create trainings based on seasonal opportunities and market demand.</li><li>Ensure trainings are accessible to all members regardless of age, gender and skill level,</li><li>Provide support to members to guarantee attendance and completion of training.</li><li>Recruit, screen and evaluate instructors.</li><li>Recruit students for the trainings, including visiting Centers, designing and distributing flyers, and conducting follow up calls.</li><li>Ensure quality training delivery and effectiveness in all centers.</li><li>Negotiate details of training implementation.</li><li>Coordinate trainings with unions and trade associations.</li><li>Coordinate trainings with community colleges and other training institutions.</li><li>Maintain records of courses and student progress through on-line database system.</li><li>Assure the good quality and accuracy of the data that is collected and recorded whether on paper or electronically; the staff must adhere to the data quality standards and guidelines of the program.</li><li>Develop job retention trainings for at risk-members.</li><li>Coordinate with the Workforce Development Specialist and Employment Specialists to ensure they are able to determine job placement needs after participation in courses.</li><li>Support the development and expansion of the membership program and services.</li><li>Registration, recruit students, Conduct community outreach & advertisement (disseminating flyers, emailing community partners, visiting local businesses & centers).</li><li>Negotiate details of training implementation.</li><li>Provide excellent customer service: phone calls & walk-in from students, clients & ESOL teachers.</li><li>Coordinate with, maintain and foster a positive working relationship with the community colleges & ESOL teachers.</li><li>Collect & record class tuition payments in Salesforce (remind students) & reconciliation with finance; maintain accurate Salesforce records of all classes for grant purposes.</li><li>Visit sites & classes weekly; recruit students to participate in CASA events, help Communications Department to maintain CASA Vocational Facebook.</li><li>Disseminate information regarding CASA events & community events to students</li><li>Plan annual graduation ceremony; attend community events promoting classes.</li><li>Conduct regular feedback sessions with the students in order to monitor class quality and gage new interest/trends in the community and devise new classes.</li><li>Participate actively in the annual planning process, including developing and executing individual work plans, evaluating and providing feedback on plans as the year progresses.</li><li>Meet deadlines established by supervisor and in Department and individual work plan.</li><li>Think creatively about ways to improve further his/her specific job and CASA as an organization.</li><li>Collaborate with other CASA Departments and programs to ensure that high quality services are being delivered to ensure that members enjoy an excellent experience with CASA such that they can contribute to building the power of the immigrant community. In particular, CASA expects services and organizing to be delivered in an integrated way.</li><li>Assure the good quality and accuracy of the data that is collected and recorded whether on paper or electronically; the staff must adhere to the data quality standards and guidelines of the program.</li><li>Participate actively in the annual planning process, including developing and executing individual work plans, evaluating and providing feedback on plans as the year progresses.</li><li>Meet deadlines established by supervisor and in Department and individual work plan.</li><li>Think creatively about ways to improve further his/her specific job and CASA as an organization.</li><li>Participation in CASA actions, mobilizations and events as needed and required.</li><li>Provide quality customer service, interactions and responses to all members, partner organizations, vendors, visitor, callers and any other individual or organization you may encounter in your role with CASA.</li><li>Understand and promote CASA membership and services.</li><li>Maintain a positive attitude.</li><li>Other Duties as Assigned</li></ul> EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree required or comparable experience, advanced degree a plus.</li><li>Valid US Driver’s License and a reliable vehicle</li></ul>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:<ul><li>Deep commitment to social change and to growing CASA as a membership organization in which members have decision-making authority.</li><li>Demonstrated experience in project coordination.</li><li>Experience in technical/vocational training/educations project, knowledge of construction trade skills.</li><li>Bilingual English/Spanish, French is a plus.</li><li>Excellent writing and speaking skills.</li><li>Strong interpersonal communication, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.</li><li>Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel and other databases, and willingness to learn other needed computer programs.</li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team.</li><li>Highly organized and able to handle multiple ongoing projects.</li><li>Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends</li><li>Must be comfortable driving passengers in a van and/or driving community members in personal vehicle from time to time</li><li>Experience working with low-skilled immigrant populations.</li></ul>COMPENSATION: $43,000 - $54,054BENEFITS DESCRIPTION:Who is eligible?<ul><li>All full time and part time permanent positions working 20 hours or more per week.</li></ul>What We Offer:<ul><li>Generous paid time off, including: annual leave starting at three weeks per year (proportional accrual per pay period), two weeks of sick leave, three days of personal leave, and additional compensatory leave for exempt employees.</li><li>Sixteen (16) paid holidays per calendar year.</li><li>Excellent Benefits Package, including employer paid benefits as follow:<ol><li>Health, dental, and vision insurance (CASA pays 100%  of the premium costs for the employee up to our HMO plan, 55% for couples, 65% for children and 60% for family)</li><li>Basic life and AD&D</li><li>Long and Short Term Disability insurance </li><li>Professional Development: Those pursuing a course of study related to work performed at CASA may be eligible for a reimbursement up to $3,000.</li><li>Employee Assistance Program (EAP)</li></ol></li><li>Additional voluntary benefits:<ol><li>FSA Account including Dependent Care.</li><li>401(k) retirement plan with a 2% employer discretionary match.</li><li>Accident, Critical Indemnity, Hospital insurance.</li></ol></li><li>Allowances:<ol><li>Mileage reimbursements for those positions that are required to drive on CASA business.</li><li>Cell Phone stipend for those positions that are required to use their cellphone for CASA business</li></ol></li></ul>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
