The highest quality and execution should be focused on design maintenance and development and installation of these various areas providing the visitor with impactful moments at Powell Gardens. Assisting with seasonal festival shifts, installation and support of the Garden is an additional responsibility.  <br/><br/></div><div><strong>Essential Functions:</strong></div><ul><li>Seasonal garden installation on schedule.</li><li>Impactful garden display including produced plants, designed gardens, container gardens, and updated plant tags.</li><li>Responsible for weeding, mulching, watering, planting and general maintenance. We strive for excellence, emphasizing the quality of collections, materials, function, and design. By maintaining exemplary standards of horticultural care, we reflect this commitment to excellence, ensure the optimal health of our living collections, and create a landscape of enduring beauty.</li><li>Design and implementation of creative displays in the assigned beds of the Core Gardens with a focus on collections.</li><li>Interacting and interpreting different elements of our displays through talks and chalkboard signs.</li><li>Quickly change out plants as needed so no dead or declining plants are on display.</li><li>Assist with accurate documentation of the area’s plant records and requests for new and updated plant tags.</li><li>Assist with snow and ice removal on sidewalks.</li><li>Timely plant maintenance, pest and disease control, record keeping; may include collection houses and/or production.</li><li>Identify and control any threating plant pests and diseases as required.</li><li>Support garden activation in collaboration with education department, private events, development team, festivals, exhibits.</li><li>The horticulture team is an integral part of planning, designing, installing, and tearing down seasonal festivals and annual exhibitions. What we need is a leader with the entrepreneurial drive to grow it from the ground up.</p><p>Services include:</p><ul><li>Robotic mowing programs</li><li>Landscape plant maintenance (personal gardener-style service)</li><li>Annual color installation and care</li><li>Leaf removal (seasonal)</li><li>Additional residential maintenance services as the department grows</li></ul><p>You'll partner closely with the VP of Innovation to continue refining processes, build out the team, and aggressively grow the customer base. You don't need every answer on day one - but you know how to find them. You're comfortable with ambiguity, energized by growth, and skilled at developing people. You hold yourself and your team accountable, but you lead with coaching first.</p><p>Requirements</p><ul><li>Bachelor's degree OR 8+ years of green industry experience (4 of those years in management)</li><li>Valid Driver's License and DOT Certificate</li><li>State-issued pesticide applicator license (Pest Control, Lawn & Ornamental) or ability to obtain</li><li>Strong financial acumen - experience managing P&L and financial metrics</li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills</li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft and Google software platforms</li><li>Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions year-round</li><li>Ability to lift 50 lbs; walk/push/pull up to 3+ miles per day as needed</li></ul><p>Preferred Qualifications</p><ul><li>Experience launching or scaling a new business unit, division, or service line</li><li>Background in residential maintenance, horticulture, or LPM practices</li><li>Experience with GGOB (Great Game of Business) or open-book management principles</li><li>Demonstrated success in sales, business development, or client retention</li><li>Familiarity with robotic mowing systems or emerging turf technologies</li></ul><p>Compensation & Benefits</p><p>Ryan Lawn & Tree offers competitive compensation commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
