Completion of at least 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in behavioral sciences or related fields , plus at least one qualifying criterion under Minnesota Statutes §245I.04, such as: At least 2,000 hours of qualifying experience providing services to individuals with mental illness, substance use disorder, traumatic brain injury, or developmental disability; Completion of a qualifying practicum or internship involving direct interaction with clients and focused on behavioral sciences or a related field; or. Under the treatment supervision of a Mental Health Professional, the MHP assists clients with symptom management, independent living skills, treatment goals, community integration, crisis prevention, and preparation for successful transition back into the community.
