Ability to: read blue prints and interpret maps; convey information and respond appropriatelyto concerned or irate customers; make routine decisions regarding assessment of immediate situations, available options, and selection of appropriate methods and procedures, material availability and ordering, equipment utilization and response to customer issues in the field; adjust to changing priorities; get along well with co-workers; use a computer and associated software and programs for tracking, inventory and work assignments; use the following tools and/or equipment: multi-line phone system, personal computer including word processing, spreadsheet, database software, GIS and computerized maintenance management system, copy and fax machines, calculator, hand and power tools, heavy and specialized equipment, automobile or truck and trailers, and other related tools and appropriate personal protective equipment. The goal of the Public Works Department is to support and enhance the quality of life for community members by delivering responsive and efficient services to all neighborhoods and to maintain reliable and cost-effective public works facilities and systems in a manner that emphasizes customer satisfaction and good stewardship of natural, fiscal, and staff resources.
