In addition to the management of resources for the clinical division of the practice, the lead technician also: initiates daily huddles with work groups, monitors patient flow, provides collaboration between work groups, provides employee training and instruction, engages in troubleshooting and problem solving, performs regulatory compliance inspections, delegates tasks, handles incident reporting, and operates with multicultural sensitivity. The responsibilities require performing a preliminary examination on all patients, which include, but are not limited to, a complete medical and ocular history, visual acuity, lensometry, refractometry, applanation tonometry (intraocular pressures), ocular motility, pupil dilation, pachymetry, color vision, lensometry, cover tests, motility tests, stereopsis tests, external examination, pupil evaluation, slit lamp biomicroscopy, and vital signs.
