From the historic Downtown to new developments, you and the rest of our team will share responsibility for managing all aspects of our City's Infrastructure by performance site inspections and other applicable work. </p><p>Example of Duties: </p><ul><li>Ensures all work is done in accordance with approved plans, City standards, and expert knowledge of subgrade, concrete, asphalt, drainage structures, and utility work. </li><li>Complete and document construction and post-construction inspections of infrastructure (roads, pipes, channels, ponds, etc.) and stormwater (erosion and sediment control) by issuing inspection reports for construction projects throughout the City. </li><li>Assist the Department of Development Services with all aspects and duties related to the implementation and management of the City's MS4 Program. </li><li>Reviews, approves, and updates utility encroachment documents. </li><li>Makes recommendations for final acceptance or denial of rights-of-way dedications. </li><li>Provides inspection reports to permittee and advises all permit holders of approvals and denials in a timely manner. </li><li>Ensures all reports are accurate and properly filed. </li><li>Investigates inquiries regarding rights-of-way conditions and identifies and notifies responsible party. </li><li>Receive, document, investigate and follow up with stormwater management concerns reported to the City </li><li>Maintain databases and files and generate reports in support of the Department of Development Services. </li><li>Completes annual inspections for on-site Stormwater detention facilities. </li><li>Assists with creating, coordinating, and presenting educational materials and programs to citizens and City employees. </li><li>Performs related duties as assigned. </li></ul><p>Basic Qualifications: </p><ul><li>Associate degree or high school diploma with some additional continuing education through certification program and 0-3 years of experience </li><li>Or an equivalent combination of education and experience level </li><li>Valid driver's license. </li><li>Working knowledge of Microsoft Office or similar software. </li><li>Must be a certified Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Inspector (CEPSCI) within 6 months of hire date. </li><li>Must complete ACPA Training Course-Pre, Pipe, and Post Installation Inspection within 6 months of hire date. </li><li>Must be a certified Pre-Highway Construction Inspector/Testing Technician - Asphalt Roadway within 3 years of hire date. </li><li>Must be a certified Pre-Highway Construction Inspector/Testing Technician - Earthwork and Base Course within 3 years of hire date. </li></ul><p>Preferred Qualifications: </p><ul><li>Experience with a municipality. </li><li>Experience in stormwater inspections. </li><li>Experience in civil site construction inspection. </li><li>Experience with taking engineering measurements and reading engineering drawings. </li></ul><p>Other Necessary Requirements: </p><ul><li>In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City's needs. </li><li>May require evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. </li></ul><p>The City of Charleston is firmly committed to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEOC) as a fundamental policy to be implemented and observed in our daily operation. </p>
