As a Field Inspector covering Scott County, you will perform residential occupancy verifications. These are brief, exterior visits to confirm property status and report on general conditions.</p><ul><li><strong>Autonomy:</strong> You manage your own routing, schedule, and territory.</li><li><strong>Efficiency:</strong> Standard inspections are designed for speed, typically requiring only 5–6 minutes on-site.</li><li><strong>Consistency:</strong> Enjoy stable, month-to-month volume in your assigned county.</li></ul><h3>Workflow & Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Determine property occupancy status based on industry-standard indicators.</li><li>Capture 9+ photos and submit brief reports using industry-standard mobile applications.</li><li>Maintain a high level of reliability regarding territory coverage and deadlines.</li></ul><p><em>Note: This role requires spending extended periods of time driving and making numerous stops throughout the day in your assigned territory. This territory covers a spacious rural county with longer drives between stops. Position Summary The Sprinkler Inspection Technician at Marmic Fire and Safety specializes in the installation, inspection, and repair of fire sprinkler systems, including hose systems, fire mains, underground systems, and closed valves. This role involves conducting detailed inspections and tests to ensure the functionality and compliance of both new and existing sprinkler systems. Technicians are responsible for identifying and repairing defective or worn components, performing inspections according to National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, and making necessary modifications to enhance system performance. You will work on a variety of sites, including residential, commercial, and industrial properties, ensuring that all sprinkler systems operate effectively to provide reliable fire protection. Core Responsibilities Inspection and Testing: Perform comprehensive inspections and testing of fire sprinkler systems to ensure they comply with local, state, and national fire codes and regulations. Identify and document any system deficiencies, malfunctions, or areas requiring improvement. System Maintenance and Repair: Conduct routine maintenance on sprinkler systems, including adjustments and minor repairs, to ensure optimal performance. Recommend and coordinate major repairs or system upgrades as needed. Pipe Installation and Assembly: Select appropriate pipe sizes and materials, measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading, and assemble and secure pipes, tubes, and fittings. Turn off existing systems to secure new pipes, weld and solder pipes to create joints, and attach pipes to fixtures. Layout and Modifications: Create layout drawings of full-scale piping systems, cut and bore holes in pipes according to blueprints and specifications. Clean and modify existing sprinkler systems to ensure they meet current standards and function efficiently. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed and accurate records of inspection results, maintenance activities, and repairs. Prepare and deliver clear, comprehensive reports to clients, outlining findings, recommendations, and corrective actions. Client Interaction: Communicate effectively with clients to explain inspection results, address concerns, and provide professional advice on system improvements. Foster positive relationships with clients through excellent customer service and responsive problem-solving. Compliance and Safety: Ensure all inspection and maintenance activities adhere to established safety standards and industry best practices. Preferred Qualifications ITM Sprinkler NICET Level 1 strongly preferred VA Backflow License strongly preferred 4 or more years of experience in sprinkler inspection or related fields. Advanced understanding of fire sprinkler systems, including installation, maintenance, and repair. Experience managing inspection projects, including scheduling and coordination. In-depth knowledge of NFPA codes and standards, as well as plumbing codes and standards. Additional safety certifications or training, such as OSHA certifications or equivalent.
