Position Status: Immediately / full timeRock of Ages and Swenson (AFCO), a division of Polycor, has an opening for a Health & Safety Intern. This is a hands-on role with a focus on regulatory and risk management, monitoring, and measurement of safety performance. The successful candidate will be critical in supporting initiatives for continuous improvement.Internship Goals:
1) Provide an opportunity for a secondary education student to apply education in a business setting and gain experience.
2) Assist Polycor in improving the Health & Safety culture and compliance.Learning Objectives:
1) Intern will gain knowledge in MSHA & OSHA regulations.
2) Intern will improve interpersonal skills and ability to impact employee habits.
3) Intern will gain experience in compliance implementation, hazard recognition, prioritizing tasks, organization, and public speaking.Potential Projects:
1) Work with Management and staff to create detailed Job Hazard Analysis for multiple tasks.
2) Create and execute Topics for Safety Meetings.
3) Assist in workplace safety audits.
4) Development of written Lock out/Tag out procedures for a variety of manufacturing equipment.

The NP internship provides an excellent opportunity to work across disciplines with other interns on campus through New Perennials and the Franklin Environmental Center on issues of increasing importance while building bridges between academics and local and regional community partners/practitioners.

Premised on notions of rootedness, relationships, and regions—and together with our collaborators—we host and support events, conferences, lectures, workshops, and performances; develop and teach courses and workshops on perenniality and diversity; and publish open-access books, pamphlets, and teaching and learning resources. NP offers a course in the Environmental Studies Program, <a class="external" href="https://www.newperennials.org/classroom" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener">The Perennial Turn</a>. Job Description The New Perennials intern will provide creative and strategic direction for social media outreach, storytelling, workshop planning, as well as ongoing support for the New Perennials Champlain Valley Hub. Work will include, but not be limited to: event support and coordination of event marketing, work on videos and podcasts, collaboration with NP partners, and assistance with NP partner convenings.
