This internship must be in conjunction with a degree program from an accredited school of veterinary technology.TIME COMMITMENT:This internship is scheduled five days per week (Monday \u2013 Friday), eight hours per day (8:00-4:30pm), for a period of ten weeks (a minimum of 400 hours). Interns may be expected to work additional hours or weekends as needed. Interns are expected to attend the full ten weeks unless an abbreviated session has been previously approved (minimum 8 weeks). Additionally, four sessions take place annually: Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter.ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS:Interns are responsible for arranging their own transportation and housing.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:DutiesPercentageAssists the Veterinary Health Department with clinical procedures, including but not limited to:<ul><li>Learning to set up and break down medical procedures.</li><li>Learning immobilization procedures such as anesthetic monitoring and recording, catheterization, etc.</li><li>Learning to administer routine treatments on hospitalized animals.</li><li>Learning to perform preventative health care of the collection such as manual restraint, phlebotomy, radiography.</li></ul>45%Learning to maintain the hospital with duties that include cleaning and sanitization, equipment care, stocking supplies etc.40%Learning to perform laboratory testing and sample preparation such as urinalysis and fecal exams, blood smears, etc.15%<ul><li>This position may at times be requested to perform other duties or special projects as assigned, which are in the best interest of the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium.</li><li>All employees must be able to perform the essential functions of this position satisfactorily and, upon request, reasonable accommodations will be made to enable employees with disabilities to perform the essential functions of their job, absent undue hardship.</li></ul>EDUCATION & FORMAL TRAINING:<ul><li>Must have completed first year or be a recent graduate of an accredited school of veterinary technology.</li><li>GPA of 3.0 or higher desired.</li></ul>OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:<ul><li>Must have valid driver's license.</li><li>Must have or be able to obtain negative TB test.</li><li>Must be able to lift 75 pounds, with or without assistance. Assistance depending upon task or role.</li><li>Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and evening hours, in all weather extremes.</li><li>Must pass a background screening.</li></ul>

This position will be responsible for collecting and assembling data, learning how to develop estimates and helping to generate systems and bid analysis. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.<ul><li>Autonomy & Decision-Making: Follows directions and refers all exceptions to supervisor.</li><li>Career Path: M/E Engineer 2.</li></ul>Key Role Responsibilities - CoreM/E ENGINEERING FAMILY - CORE<ul><li>Learns and actively participates in all aspects of the company's safety and quality plans and culture by demonstrating commitment to an injury-free environment through individual actions and mentoring others.</li><li>Completes entry level and routine mechanical, electrical and field construction activities.</li><li>Learns how to develop budgetary M/E estimates, based upon program and schematic design information using automated M/E estimating system.</li><li>Assists in the review of mechanical and electrical options as part of the preconstruction process and completes systems analysis for select projects.</li><li>Learns to develop the mechanical and electrical scopes of work used to coordinate during the bid process.</li><li>Assists in the completion of bid analysis and provides input during the subcontractor selection process.</li><li>Assists in developing sequencing requirements of various systems and providing solutions to meet the schedule requirements.</li><li>Gains knowledge of design documents in order to identify potential quality problems to assist in developing constructability review reports.</li><li>Learns to perform job inspections to ensure specifications and expectations are met and work is completed in a quality and timely manner.</li><li>Learns and assists with the shop drawing/submittal process to comply with the contract documents.</li><li>Assists with the commissioning process including developing pre-functional checklists, functional testing procedures and actual functional testing.</li></ul>Key Role Responsibilities - Additional CoreKnowledge, Skills & Abilities<ul><li>Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner.</li><li>Communication skills, verbal and written (Intermediate).</li><li>Proficiency in MS Office.</li><li>Ability to read and understand plans, drawings and specifications.</li><li>Proficiency in basic JE Dunn construction M/E tools and software.</li><li>Knowledge of the means and methods of construction management.</li><li>Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally and externally.</li></ul>Education<ul><li>Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, architectural engineering or related field (Required).</li><li>In lieu of the above requirements, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.</li></ul>Experience<ul><li>0-2 years construction experience and/or summer internship/co-op experience in construction (Preferred).</li></ul>Working EnvironmentBenefits InformationThe benefits package aligned to this position is Professional Non-Union.
