A qualified translator or interpreter is defined as a vendor’s in-house or contracted translator or interpreter who is competent to interpret or translate as demonstrated through accreditation by State Interpreter Certification/National Center for State Courts, the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters, National Council on Interpreting in Health Care Certification, or Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR), or equivalent certifying agency. Upon completion of telephonic or video conference interpretation, Interpreters must immediately destroy VA sensitive information they may have written down, QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIRED SKILLS:3-4 years interpreting preferably medical interpreting required.
